Flood Modelling

HydraLogic can help you make an informed decision about an investment, design or policy position by undertaking a 2D flood assessment of your subject site or region.

Strategy making

HydraLogic specialises in the planning and preparation of strategy documents that will focus your existing knowledge and assist with plotting a long term course of actions to fill knowledge gaps and to prepare for emerging issues in the future.

Safe, resilient designs

HydraLogic promotes safe, sustainable and resilient urban forms and infrastructure which recognises the risks and limitations of the natural water cycle and responds with responsible design solutions that will be resilient to future climate conditions.

Risk assessments

HydraLogic understands the uncertainties of engineering calculations and the need for practical well considered approaches to assessing the risks of flooding and to making informed decisions on risk management.

Data collection

HydraLogic has extensive experience in the rainfall and flooding level data collection. HydraLogic can configure and maintain BoM Environmon data collection software for local governments and emergency services.

Flood mapping

HydraLogic speacialises in providing high quality flood mapping products for land use planning, disaster management, development assessment and infrastructure design.

Workshop facilitation

Damian is an engaging confident speaker and a well-known workshop facilitator who has delivered hundreds of workshops and presentations to thousands of industry professionals.

Support for decision makers

Specialising in supporting decision makers to interpret technical findings and recommendations and applying them to planning, policy and design outcomes.

Infrastructure design

HydraLogic can provide design support for culvert and bridge design, flood mitigation and stormwater management including water sensitive urban design and stormwater harvesting.

Insurance assessments

A flood insurance assessment prepared by HydraLogic will determine historical, current or future flooding conditions for a subject site or region. Our assessment will determine the possible sources of flooding for a property and an expected frequency of occurrence .

Flood modelling

HydraLogic utilises the latest techniques and software in 2D flood modelling to prepare high resolution analysis of your project site.

We specialise in direct rainfall (rain on grid) flood simulations. These models provide our clients with accurate and engaging outputs to help inform and communicate their design and response.

Disaster management

In most local governments and state agencies only a handful of people are actively involved in disaster management on a daily basis. Hence during an event, disaster management support roles are generally filled from across the organisation. For these support personnel to be effective during an event they need to be trained in the skills and communications that they may be expected to utilise.

At HydraLogic we can assist with developing and implementing capacity building and training programs for both dedicated and ancillary support roles for disaster management.

Planning for the future

The current projections for climate change suggest that we can expect larger and more frequent extreme weather events with increases in mean sea level.

These changes are expected to occur over time, so how do we plan our communities and design our infrastructure now so that we can maintain acceptable levels of service and resilience into the future?

HydraLogic understands complexity of these time-based decisions and offers support to planners, policy makers and designers in tackling the problems of dealing with climate change.

BoM Enviromon tutorial

Environmon is the Bureau of Meteorology’s  data collection and translation software typically deployed to local governments for the management and monitoring of radio telemetry flood warning stations using ALERT protocols.

This short  (11mins) introductory video covers:

  • how to view and read rainfall and water level data;
  • where to find the contact names to receive alert messages;
  • where to view Flood Classifications; and
  • where to view recent alert messaging.

The video uses real data to demonstrate basic features and navigation of Enviromon for new or infrequent users.

"You shouldn’t have to engage for a big city engineering firm to get expert advice and analysis for your project."

What to do next

Dealing with flood analysis can be confusing and expensive. It’s a complex science that often involves sophisticated analysis and understanding of regulations.

Poor decisions can result in expensive mistakes, long delays and lost opportunities.

Don’t risk being just another project number of a multinational engineering firm.
